Hi, my name is Maja, I’m a Polish artist. I’d like to share my art with you, along with the way I interpret it. The art I create is born from a fascination with darkness, mystery, and what lies hidden beneath the surface of a person.
My gallery is a collection of works inspired by dark aesthetics, symbolism, and the ambiguity of human emotions. Each piece – every painting, project, and composition – comes from a desire to explore what is not immediately obvious: the shadows of human nature.
Here, you’ll find visions that exist somewhere between dream and nightmare, between beauty and unease. Some works are cold and raw; others are filled with hidden symbols and emotions that only reveal themselves after a longer gaze. This is art that doesn’t always provide answers – it more often asks questions, leaving space for your own interpretation.
This is a space for those who can see beauty where others notice only discomfort.
So step in. Take your time. Let your thoughts wander between lines and paper. You may find something more here than just images.

The mask

„The mask of chaos”
Medium: Pencil and colored pencils, 2025
A mask is not merely something that covers the face – it is a boundary between what is visible and what remains hidden.
In dark art, the mask becomes a tool for cutting off emotion, a way to conceal pain, anger, and fear from a world that should not see one’s true face. By putting on a mask, a person ceases to be themselves – they become a shadow, a role, an illusion meant to survive rather than to feel.
The mask protects, but at the same time, it imprisons. It hides the fractures of the psyche, muffles the scream, and covers the eyes that have seen too much.
Over time, it stops being an object and begins to grow into the skin, merging with the face until it is no longer clear where the person ends, and the false identity begins.
Within the motif of the mask lies a fear of revealing the truth – because what’s underneath is often more terrifying than the mask itself.

„The mask of the drowned”
Medium: Pencil and colored pencils, 2025
The flaying

„The naked devil”
Medium: Colored pencils, markers, and pencil, 2024
Flaying is one of the most brutal motifs in dark art. It symbolizes total exposure, the loss of protection, and a break from the human form. Skin is the boundary between the external world and what lies hidden within. When it is stripped away, the illusion of safety disappears, and what is most terrifying and painful rises to the surface.
In dark art, flaying does not necessarily represent physical violence. It is a process of removing masks, roles, and lies until only the raw, naked psyche remains-defenseless, formless, and unable to hide its emotions. It is the moment when a person stops looking human, yet only then truly begins to be themselves.
This motif symbolizes crossing a boundary:
-Between the body and the inner self,
-Between form and truth,
-Between who we are to the world and who we really are.
In dark art, flaying is not only about suffering – it is the unveiling of something that can no longer be hidden.
The twinship

„Spider offspring”
Medium: Colored pencils, markers, and pencil, 2024
In the dark arts, Twins are known as the „Error of the First Form.” They are beings who, at the moment of birth, refused to remain whole, tearing their essence into two vessels—neither of which is deep enough to contain the entirety of the soul. Their bond is not one of love, but of parasitism. They are inseparably linked entities, two manifestations of a single force.
Twins emerge when the balance between these two forces is disturbed. Their manifestation serves either to restore harmony or to bring about transformation.
